Background & Experience

A background built on inspirational advocacy

I am a political animal. I grew up immersed in campaigns and spent every election night at the county courthouse with my dad watching the votes come in. As a first-generation college student, I naturally gravitated toward political science and law degrees. I've worked in the intersection of politics, media, law, public policy, and social impact - a multi-faceted set of experiences that informs and shapes my audiobook and journalism narration.

I do this work to make a positive difference - to deliver fact-based, substantiated content in a compelling manner that informs, inspires, and encourages thoughtful dialogue and action. My professional journey includes serving as a White House correspondent and covering Capitol Hill and global affairs for CBS News, earning an Emmy for my work on 48 Hours. My legal practice specializes in juror and media strategic and crisis communications, and as the CEO of trade associations, I have represented the trucking, telecommunications, energy, and intelligent transportation industries.

My work as CEO of Miss America, allowed me the opportunity to spearhead the retirment of the swimsuit competition, shifting the organization's focus to empowering women as change-makers rather than judging them on appearance.

Currently, I serve as Board Chair of Flapper House Productions, producing documentary projects focused on Gen Z voting, Board President of the Arkansas Alumni Association, board member of Vital Voices DC Council and the Arkansas State Society, and a volunteer for the Audio Publishers Association.

I hold JD and BA degrees from the University of Arkansas and am a graduate of the Executive Program at Harvard Business School.

On a personal note, I cherish celebrating birthdays, treasure the art of music and dance - especially classical ballet - and have a wandering spirit for the adventure of world travel, chasing ocean and desert sunsets, while indulging in frozen yogurt with M&Ms.

  • As an artist, my goal is to present fact-based, compelling stories and information that informs, inspires, and fosters meaningful dialogue and action. As in every role I have pursued, I prioritize advocating for the art and business of the audiobook industry. I am an active member of SAG-AFTRA, the Audio Publishers Association, and the Professional Audiobook Narrators Association.

I have trained with esteemed instructors including Vikas Adam, Andi Arndt, Erin Bennett, Ronnie Butler, Joel Froomkin, Hillary Huber, Carol Monda, PJ Ochlan, and Sean Pratt. My primary focus is on non-fiction genres related to politics, public policy, law, media, and current affairs, as well as legal and political thrillers and young adult novels featuring strong, change-driving female protagonists.

Growing up in the South has provided me with a unique perspective on grassroots advocacy and a deep appreciation for bringing authentic Southern characters to life.
